Wine of the Week!
Artadi Artazuri Garnacha 2006 $10
Our pick for Wine of the Week this week is from a lesser known part of Spain…Navarra. The wine is the wonderfully drinkable 2005 Artazuri Garnacha from Artadi. The Navarra is a small wine region in the far north of Spain and Artazuri is named after the village where the old vines of Garnacha grow.
This Garnacha, the Spanish name of Grenache is tasty! It has the ripe fruit taste of a bowl of fresh raspberries and a flavor like red licorice I find just plain fun to drink but it’s the underlying spiciness that makes it so good… like a dash of white pepper.
This is sipping wine that’s perfect with a handful of Spanish almonds to snack… or a Friday night pizza and movie. You see it’s about ten dollars so you can enjoy it as often and whenever you’re in the mood
Artazuri Garnacha 2006… our wine of the week.

Winemaker’s Notes and Comments:
This scrumptious red wine came from the small village of Artazu in the Northern most part or Navarra. The Red Artazuri is crafted from old vines Garnacha by Juan Carlos de la Calle, winemaker of the Artadi. It exhibits notes of raspberries, currants, roses and violets. It's fresh and juicy on the palate with a slightly peppery finish.
When you read our thoughts,
please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine
may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying
it because of that. In fact, you may want to email
us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our
FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts . . . first, prices
are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean
different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for
a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly!
Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions.
