What Wines Are "Hot"
To find out which wines everybody seems
to be drinking this year, we talked with Gourmet Magazine Wine Consultant
Michael Green . . .
I think
there are certain regions that continue to be hot because they give
consumers great varietals that they are familiar with coupled with
wonderful flavor and tremendous value.
It's
like the Chilean and Argentinean continue to be hot. But if I
had to sort of focus on one region that I think has many other wine
nations quivering in their boots, it continues to be Australia .
These wines
are made by winemakers and by companies who only want people to
lick their lips and and enjoy them. And at all different price
points, these wines exhibit flavor profiles, very fruit forward,
very easy to understand . . . can be complex but very, very tasty.
